If Muhammad introduced Allah to the world, how come his father's name was Abd Allah (Servant of Allah)?

As I read in a book, unfortunately can't remember its name, "Allah" was one of the idols Arabs were worshiping before Muhammadian era. This idol used to be kept in Ka'be(the House of God).
